In footnote #2, Fantastical, I removed two broken links to wiktionary.org. The existing page http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fantastical does not seem to correspond. Perhaps some one else knows a better link?

That's a beautiful story, and well told. I can feel myself in the same situation, making the same chain of decisions, to the inevitable mucky conclusion. Thank you for sharing Russell!

It doesn't seem like many folk have taken the time to join wikidot, before entering the forum here. I wonder why… maybe a tad too complicated… not as easy as replying to Rab from the newsletter arriving in ones emailbox. Seems like we're missing an opportunity to meet in real time… live discussion whew!

I've just added two page categories Story and Ken Long Notes, denoted by the prefixes story: and klong-notes: respectively in their unix name (the name of the page as it appears your browser URL bar). In order to carry this out many pages needed to be renamed, which had the unfortunate effect of adding a lot of noise to the recent-changes page. My apologies. The noise can be abated somewhat if you un-tick ALL in the recent changes page and just select those attributes you are interested in. About the categories:

Story - reader contributed stories
Ken Long Notes - articles transcribed from Kennedy Longs' notebook

More categories will be created in time as required, though hopefully we'll have enough foresight to think of them ahead of time and so avoid unnecessary renaming. :)

I can't locate a book with this author and title combination. Is it perhaps composite of two titles? Here are some similar titles I've found mention of:

Case for Reincarnation - Weatherhead, Leslie D

Listed in catalog: http://www.seattlemetaphysicallibrary.org/CatHTML/Category%2057.html

This title available for sale: http://uk.three.ebid.net/perl/auction.cgi/1197725995-414-13

Evidence For Survival From Claimed Memories Of Former Incarnations - Stevenson, Ian

Listed in catalog: http://www.seattlemetaphysicallibrary.org/CatHTML/Category%2057.html

summary article about Ian Stevenson and his many publications on this theme: http://www.theosophical.org/publications/questmagazine/marapr06/algeo/index.php

Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation - Stevenson, Ian, 2nd Edition, Revised and Enlarged.

Read online at Google Books: http://books.google.com/books?id=vIDES6VWl1MC&printsec=frontcover#PPP1,M1

With newsletter #6 sitting in my inbox and the 5 previous ones already diced and sliced into their respective pages on the main site, I realised that not having the source material here available for review could mean that mistakes I've made in the editing could go unnoticed. So here in this thread will go each of the newsletters before they get re-processed on the wiki side of the site.

-matt

Not really 'workflow' per se, but needs to be put down somewhere. When it is gelled I'll move to an appropriate place. I think there should be a "code of conduct" or promise to readers and would be contributors.

So here are my (draft) promises as Site Administrator:

My job is to enable the Editors and Readers and Contributors to have a discussion and build a story together, for the benefit of all beings. Things I do here are always with that premise in mind.

After the initial framework for the site is complete, I will not edit any story page content except to add or remove elements relating to function and layout. For example I may change the look of a heading or position of an image or join broken lines in a paragraph but will not change words. If I think the content of a page should change in some respect I'll make an observation in the relevant forum discussion. On no account will I change a story's status category (e.g. draft to press-ready or vice versa). I do feel free to make content changes to pages which are not a 'story', e.g. Welcome, About this site, etc.

I will not delete anything in the forums unless it is clearly and unambiguously spam. I may move something to another publicly viewable place if it is not relevant in it's current location.

Changes to the site's behaviour, especially anything that adds or removes content not captured in another way (like the page history for example) will be publicly announced in the System forum.

Although the initiating spark which created this site is to write and publish a book, this site has an independent existence. Long after the goal is accomplished, the book published, this site will continue to operate and accept participation. At least to the best my ability resources, and circumstances allow. Should the underlying environment dissolve (e.g. the server dies, the hosting provider goes bankrupt) I'll move the content somewhere else where it will continue to be freely accessible.

Should I prove unable or unwilling to continue in the role of Site Administrator I'll hand off the reigns to someone else.

I accept, and expect, to be called on any digressions from these promises and will leave those observations intact and in public. I still feel free to defend myself of course.

…so that we don't have to type [module Comments] at the end of every page, and the discussion takes place "in the back room". Goals are to keep the initial page view a little cleaner, shorten initial page load time.
